What wonderful day was I enjoying when I went to the Art Institute, you ask? Well....I am sorry to have aroused such curiosity for it will seem quite mundane. It was a wonderful day because it was: sunny....and I was spontaneous, deciding to drive to Chicago after a morning full of teaching....it was wonderful because it was hopeful, as I was driving there to drop a bow off with a potential buyer....it was wonderful because she suggested we meet at the Art Institute.....which was wonderful because it was a day of free admission.....in the gift shop I found a very nice gift for a friend....I walked around and drank up the delicious artwork in all the galleries.....I had hoped to see the Seurat "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of Le Grand Jette", but didn't know exactly where to find it, when I walked right into the very room where it was so grandly displayed, which brought tears of joy to my eyes!.....it was wonderful because after I left the Art Institute, so happy to have been there, I was able to meet up with my husband for dinner.

So many days are so busy, with my nose to the proverbial grindstone. So rarely do I have the time or the inclination to just take a break and do something totally out of the ordinary. Being spontaneous by nature, I wouldn't have wanted to plan that day ahead of time -- and it wouldn't have been the same if I had. It was just a delightful 'adventure' that still brings a smile to my face lo these many weeks later.

And, the lady purchased my bow! So the day had a prosperous underlying purpose as well.

Does that satisfy your curiosity?

  1. Yes, it does! And it does sound like a nice day. I'm quite fond of that painting as well...
